The National HIV PrEP Summit (NHPS) is a new NMAC conference slated for Dec 3-4, 2016 in San Francisco. Like the conference’s logo, this meeting is a collaboration between community-based organizations (CBOs), health departments (HDs), national organizations and NMAC. The meeting brings together HIV leaders to discuss and learn about Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and other biomedical HIV prevention interventions. NMAC thanks Gilead for their major support of this meeting.  NHPS has currently sold out.

The intent of NHPS is not to argue the science of PrEP. Instead, it will focus on the implementation and infrastructure needed to turn the promise of the science into an effective community-level HIV prevention option.

Conference Goals
–  Increase access of quality PrEP services for people of color
–  Collaboratively build the infrastructure needed to support biomedical HIV prevention
–  Bring together diverse leaders and constituents

PROTEST POLICY
NMAC and its program partners encourage freedom of expression as an essential principle in the response to HIV. Activism has always played a central role in our movement and we encourage debate and dialogue as key elements of NHPS, including the right to peacefully protest. However, NMAC and its partners oppose the disruption of conference sessions, satellite meetings or exhibitions that result in the inability of attendees to take full advantage of the learning and educational opportunities available at the conference. We ask that everyone respect the mission, spirit, and integrity of NHPS and use their best judgment if/when organizing demonstrations.

For those who will be organizing demonstrations or protests during any part of the conference, we ask that you kindly inform Conferences staff (conferences@nmac.org) and designate a contact person for your demonstration. We also ask that you:

  1. Limit all demonstrations in the conference exhibit hall to the hours of 10am and 2pm.
  2. Limit all demonstrations to no more than 15 minutes.
  3. Hold no more than one demonstration per day.

NMAC reserves the right to determine whether a demonstration is disruptive and/or detrimental to the mission and values of NHPS. We appreciate the need for freedom of expression. We also want to balance this need with the needs of our constituents, sponsors, and exhibitors to ensure that NHPS is productive for everyone. As such, we require all attendees to follow these policies. If you do not, you may be escorted out of the conference and be banned from attending future NMAC sponsored conferences and events.
